Introduction to Planet IRM (1 day)
This class is designed for managers and users that need only to view, query, report, and print the information contained in the Planet IRM system. This class will introduce the user to fundamental structure of Planet IRM. The user will learn how to use the Site Workspace interface to view properties of Architecture, Locations, Equipment, Cable, and Circuit data. At the end of this class the user shall understand the database objects, how to locate and search for specific information, how to filter information graphically using both graphical layering and database queries, and how to use the reporting and printing interfaces.
Basic Operator (3 days)
The basic operator class is the foundation class for all Read/Write Planet IRM users. It introduces the user to the navigation tools, interfaces and basic operations used in creating new site designs. The user will learn how to create sites, place and move equipment, and insert, route and connect cables. This course also introduces the user to the printing interfaces for sites, elevations and reports. It is recommended that all Planet IRM users and Administrators attend this class to get a basic fundamental understanding of the Planet IRM tool.
Library Administration (2 days)
This class introduces the Planet IRM core library objects to the user. Libraries form the fundamental building blocks of the Planet IRM system. Users attending this class must have a fundamental understanding of equipment, cables, port, and media types and standards. The user will learn how to structure libraries, define library objects and create user-defined fields for each product.
User and Group Administration (1 day)
This class introduces the administration functions associated with Planet IRM’s security access model. Users will learn how to manage User Logins, Groups and create and assign Group Administrators. The user will also be introduced to the restrictions associated with site ownership, assigned access rights and security units.
Dynamic Data Reconciliation Interface (2 days)
Users will learn how to effectively use the DDR interface to import data from external data sources such as spreadsheets, databases or CSV files. The class will instruct the user on the different objects that can be populated, data mapping, data translation, and import options.
Operational Moves, Adds & Changes (1 day)
This class introduces the user to the MAC (Move, Add, Change) transaction system in Planet IRM. This system is used to create, manage, query, report, and signoff change requests within Planet IRM. All users must complete the Basic Operations class prior to attending the MAC class, as it requires the user to be able to create and manipulate both equipment and cable objects. This class is fundamental for any user responsible for the creation, review and reporting of change requests within Planet IRM.
Customized Reporting (3 days)
This class introduces the user to the basic Planet IRM data model and introduces the user to the processes used to build and integrate customized reports using the Crystal Reporting Engine. Users attending this class must already be proficient in the use and creation of report templates using Crystal Reports 8.5/11 as this is not intended as a Crystal Reports training session. An understating of databases, tables and column data is required before attending this class.
iiPDF™ Authoring (1 day)
Users will learn how to generate secure intelligent infrastructure PDF templates, which includes global templates, site specific templates and template packages. For each template, the user will learn how to configure, embed and apply optional content filters and selections.
Data Analysis & Preparation (3 days)
This class is designed to kick start a project by providing insight into data analysis requirements, data capture requirements and expectations when preparing data for bulk loading into the Planet IRM system. It is essential that the attendees provide a sample set of drawings and spreadsheets containing cable pulls and patching data. This data will be analyzed and processed during the class. The goal is to achieve a set of prepared, formatted and structured data that is ready to be imported into Planet IRM. All attendees should be proficient in using Excel formulas and Visual Basic programming.
Planet API (1 day for each API)
These classes introduce users to integration capabilities with one of the three API’s currently available with Planet IRM:
- PNI - Network Management Interface
- HDI - HelpDesk Interface
- Fluke - Linkware cable test interface
Customized Training
In addition to the above standard courses, customized training courses can be developed to suit any client's specific requirements.
